About this edition: This online edition is the result of the project "Bilingual edition of the Dioptra" conducted from July 2022 until June 2026. The project was funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) [P 35902] and led by Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Jürgen Fuchsbauer. The Slavonic text is given according to the best extant manuscript (L'viv, NB NANU im. Stefanyka MV-418). This manuscript preserves the text in the original Middle Bulgarian redaction of the translation. The Greek text is given according to Vaticanus gr. 1893, the closest Greek manuscript that could be identified. If other manuscripts show better readings, these readings are incorporated into the text. The source of the respective readings is then indicated in a footnote.
